Make The Joint a part of your calendar for 2018

With so much instability and uncertainty in the world and headlines dominated by threats of dissolving and emerging global alliances, it’s comforting to know that there is a steady hand in the Jewish world ensuring that Jews are safe and cared for, no matter their political and economic circumstances.

For those of you who were able to join us at our Spring Speaking Tour last year, you will no doubt recall how our speakers, Amir Shaviv and Oksana Galkevich, told the stories of modern day Jewish rescue and relief and reassured us of the constant vigilance that The Joint undertakes on our behalf.

So, for this year’s upcoming Spring Tour, we invite Asher Ostrin back to our shores to better understand how this new world is impacting Jews living in Russia and the former Soviet Union—and how a new resilient generation of Eastern European and Russian Jewry is mobilising itself to deal with the challenges and opportunities ahead.

For those who are fortunate enough to be joining us on our mission to St. Petersburg, Moscow and Tallinn in October this year (there are a few more spots left!), you can look forward to seeing this resurgence of Jewish life for yourself and hopefully bring the message of hope back to our community upon your return. For others, we invite you to join us to hear Asher and be inspired by his three-decade campaign to rebuild Jewish life in the region.

But perhaps most exciting of all is our recent announcement of a newly created position of Youth and Young Adult Engagement Coordinator to do just that: engage our young people in global Jewish issues. With a view to promoting outstanding volunteer opportunities across the globe and working with our schools, universities and young professionals to build local avenues for young people to engage in global Jewish issues, this is an exciting development for our community at large.

We hope that our efforts to bring the global Jewish world a little closer to us here in Australia is as meaningful to you as it is to us! We value your support and participation.
