Ten Jewish Australians from Sydney and Melbourne joined The Joint on a 10-day Jewish tour of Cuba. The group was treated to a deep dive into the island’s incredible history, sights and sounds and enjoyed some very special time with Cuba’s small but thriving Jewish community.
The Joint Responds to Fires in Israel
As raging fires in Israel caused scores of injuries and widespread fear, the evacuation of more than 70,000, and the destruction of hundreds of homes and businesses, The Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) mobilized its Israel emergency response system and wide-ranging network of government, local municipality, and NGO partners to assess needs and ensure that the most vulnerable Israelis aided by The Joint are safe and cared for.
The Joint and WIZO join forces to help Israelis in need
THE JOINT and WIZO joined forces for the first time since 1967, staging functions across Sydney and Melbourne in August this year to fund programs that will help break the cycle of poverty in Israel.
Memories from Magical Morocco
Thirty people from all around Australia participated in The Joint’s most recent mission, A Jewish Journey through Magical Morocco (November 2015). Over the course of two weeks, the group enjoyed traveling across this fascinating country that was once the epicenter of Jewish life.
Huge Success as the Joint hosts Gala with Bella Meyer
More than 350 people showed up to support The Joint across Sydney and Melbourne and were wowed by a riveting keynote address by Marc Chagall’s granddaughter, Bella Meyer. Meyer talked not just about her grandfather ‘the artist’, but also shared his personal stories and especially how The Joint saved his life when he and his wife were fleeing the Nazis.
