With so much of the world’s focus on Russia, don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of the world’s foremost experts on post-Soviet Jewish life.
For more than two decades, Asher oversaw the creation and development of The Joint’s multi-faceted welfare and Jewish community development program across the former Soviet Union. Asher has worked with The Joint for more than 32 years.
During Asher’s 32 years with The Joint—especially during his tenure as director of The Former Soviet Union division— The Joint established 15 local offices and hundreds of welfare centres and Jewish community centres across the region to help rebuild and sustain Jewish life.
With previous postings in Austria, Hungary, the former Yugoslavia and England, Asher serves today as a trusted advisor to The Joint’s senior management team, helping to guide the organisation’s complex programming and planning throughout world.
Asher is a native of New York City and has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary. He moved to Israel in 1992 where he lives today with his family in Jerusalem.
